Doug Bergman, President & CEO
Doug was named President/CEO of UCP of Sacramento and Northern California in March 2006. He oversees all organizational operations including fundraising, program development, community relations and program services. Under Doug’s leadership and strategic initiatives, UCP has expanded its program reach from 1,400 to 5,730 clients and increased organizational efficiencies to meet the needs of our diverse clients. He moved UCP forward to address the future needs of today’s children by supporting the formation of The Foundation for UCP of Sacramento and Northern California. Looking to diversify our revenue sources, Doug established the UCP company Mission Resources Solutions Inc. With more than 25 years of management experience, Doug’s focus is on leading UCP operations throughout Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Shasta, Sutter and Yolo counties. Prior to joining UCP, Doug managed both retail and wholesale operations for ConocoPhillips in Northern California/Arizona. Doug has a BS in administration from Ball State University with a double major in finance and management.

Eric Ciampa, Chief Operating Officer
Eric joined the UCP team in August of 2013 as Associate Chief Operating Officer and transitioned into the role of Chief Operating Officer in November 2014. Eric oversees UCP’s programs serving approximately 5,730 clients each month. Eric brings 10 years of non-profit and management experience to the UCP Team. Prior to joining UCP, Eric served as the Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Club of Placer County where he was responsible for day-to-day operations including managing programs, staff, HR, facilities and outcomes at three locations serving 300 clients. Prior to returning home to Northern California, Eric served as the Pastor of Discipleship for Christ’s Church of the Valley in San Dimas, where his responsibilities emphasized team building and program development for a congregation of 4,500. Eric completed his undergrad education at Azusa Pacific University and attended graduate school at Claremont School of Theology. 

Kyle Smith, Chief Financial Officer
Kyle Smith joined UCP as the Chief Financial Officer in 2015 after having worked in a variety of executive business roles for more than 15 years. He grew up in El Dorado County, California, and graduated with honors from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. Prior to joining UCP, Kyle was the CFO at Your Energy Source, where he was integral in transforming the small construction company into a multi-faceted energy conservation contracting corporation with four separate and growing divisions. Prior to this, Kyle served as Executive VP, Director, CFO and Corporate Secretary for MaxPreps, America’s Source for High School Sports. Kyle’s strengths are strategic planning, financial analysis, and organizational efficiencies, pioneering new projects and operations excellence. He is an adaptable and visionary team member. Kyle and his wife Emily live in the Sierra foothills east of Sacramento, with their daughter Sydney and son Colby.

Laurie Gwinn, Director of Human Resources
Laurie joined UCP in November 2007 as the Director of Human Resources. With more than 20 years of human resources managerial experience, Laurie’s experience includes the development and/or revamping of HR departments in both private and public sectors. In addition to managing core human resources functions, Laurie has focused on optimizing staff development, state and federal legal compliance and administering compensation and benefits programs. Laurie has served on boards for United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and March of Dimes. She is an active member of the Sacramento Area Human Resources Association, volunteers at Women’s Empowerment and has a BS in business administration.

Steve Horton, Director of Marketing and Development
Steve joined the UCP team in January 2009 as the Director of Development and Marketing. Having served as Associate Executive Director of Development and Marketing at Stanford Home for Children for four years, and 14 years with the Canadian Cancer Society, his long nonprofit experience lends him a unique perspective as he develops new goals and strategies for UCP. Steve is a long-time member of the Sacramento Rotary Club, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the National Committee on Planned Giving.
